The business has expanded from 1 Country Taxi Licence to 8 Licenses for operations within the Shire of Broome with no restrictions on operating times on any of the licenses.

The business is for sale as the Owners wish to retire and for the past three years, ending November 2016, leased the business to another operator. The lease was not renewed and the Sellers again operated the business from December 2016 to date. The Owners are well into retirement age and now basically only supervise shift changes and may drive if there is a backlog of bookings.

Substantial cost saving could be made by energetic new owners prepared to take shifts or carry out general vehicle maintenance.

The business is currently operated from the Owner's depot and residence in Blackman Street, Broome and should a successful purchaser wish to have continued use of the workshop only, the Owners will negotiate a mutually agreeable lease arrangement or sale of the property.

No wages are paid by the Owners. The driver uses a taxi for a shift and at the end of the shift the driver refuels the vehicle. The driver pays for the fuel from income collected during the shift and the remainder of income is split equally with the Owners. No tax, holiday pay, leave, superannuation or other benefits are payable by the Owners on behalf of the drivers.

All vehicles are equipped with a meter, taxi light and a Cab Charge machine. The Owners have installed the latest GPS (MT Data) computer based management and dispatching systems to improve accountability and efficiency. They also now contract Swan Taxis under a 5 year contract to accept bookings and despatch the vehicles.

The Department of Transport controls the setting of all fares and charges with reviews being done annually or more frequently if necessary. There is a Departmental Officer based in Broome.

Taxis are very much an integral part of Broome's transport infrastructure and there is little, if any competition from privately owned individual vehicles operating under a collective web based booking system.
