Maffra Hardware is the only dedicated hardware store servicing the town of approximately 4000 people and the surrounding regional farming areas. Maffra is located approximately 220km east of Melbourne in East Gippsland, just 15km off the Princes Highway. The town is central to the dairy communities of the Macalister Irrigation District. It is ideally located for those that enjoy the outdoors, being at the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and approximately 40km from Victoria’s famous 90 Mile Beach. Other local industries include Exxon Mobil’s Bass Strait oil and gas platforms and processing plant, forestry, the Sale RAAF base, beef and sheep.
The town is expanding rapidly, with a second supermarket opening in late 2010. The town is well serviced by primary and secondary schools, all major banks, a hospital, a wide variety of shops and very active community service groups.
